Streator Mysteries To Launch Website, amidst “Karen” Protests

“We will not be silenced!” Streator Mysteries representative said in an interview with ourselves. “We have too much important work to do.”

Though most citizens of Streator that read our story seemed to enjoy the truth and transparent journalism we are providing to our local community, however a few local “Karens” did not appreciate our attempt to shine the light of truth in the shadowy corners of the town. “I was rather dissatisfied” A “Karen” said when we reached out for comment. Despite the backlash, our message still reached tens of people!

For those that are not in the “Know”, A “Karen” is defined as “an entitled or demanding customer or person who is generally unhappy with everything, and feels their perspective or opinion is more important than anyone else’s.” They are sometimes referred to as “Kevins or Kens” for their male counterparts. So, what exactly about our story triggered this volatile click of Streatorites?

In regards to our story about the time bandits who are, as of this moment still at large somewhere in the future, some citizens were unhappy about our reporting of the situation. Brent Spencer of Streator says “This has got to be one of the dumbest posts I’ve ever read. Time I’ll never get back!” in a comment on the original story. Kel Belle makes an interesting connection: “looks like the Time Bandits struck again”, she said in a reply. We have yet to confirm if the time bandits were indeed involved in Brent’s case.

Some just had a misunderstanding of what it is we do here at Streator Mysteries. While Angie Roach seems to think we are a “scam” of some sort, others were confused as to the purpose of our article. Julie Mertes Trotter says “this is not even in the least bit funny”. We agree Julie, there is nothing funny about time bandits committing crimes in our community. Luckily Streator Police are hard at work on the case. Gloria Yurko refers to us as “Fake news” in a seemingly double posted comment.

But the biggest outcry comes from local business owner and potential Lizard Person Nina Marie, if that is even her real name. “it's bs if u share this.. and u don't know the facts “ she said. It seems she does not trust our anonymous informant who is close to the situation or the statement given to by an unnamed official. “why is the poster NOT using their real name!!” she asked in a comment with way too many improper uses of ellipses. She further supports silencing our efforts in another comment, “I think it's just something that shouldn't be said..u know the rumor mill”.

When asked if she read the article she said “ya..I didn't do that..so I was unaware.. so i see how that happens...” When confronted by someone who actually read our story, she decided to double down instead of admit she misunderstood the content. “I totally get that, but as u see...not everyone does . And when that happens..it turns the rumor mill....”

The real story here is not what Nina Marie is saying but what she is not. When asked by us if she was a government agent intent on silencing us, she refused to answer, despite her high level of daily facebook activity. Further evidence has been brought to light that supports this theory as well, as it turns out, Nina Marie is an admin for “Streatorstuff”, the number one source of information in Streator. One has to wonder if she is behind declining our multiple request to join the group. In a comment on the situation, we said “Pretty pretty please with a cherry on top!? You got to let us join, puhleeesssseeee! We are misssing out on SO many yard sales!”

Josh Mehn an intitial detractor to our story, but has since followed our page and liked the article did not reply to our request for a comment. He is an admin in the group where the article was orginally shared. One can only assume he saw the light and is now a true Streator believer.

StreatorMysteries.com will launch later this month with news stories, interactive paranormal activity map, as well as useful tips and guides to navigate a paranormal town we call home. Thank you to all those who have supported us in this adventure, and special thanks to those who would discourge us. You are our inspiration!
